T-Mobile dangles carrot if you bring a friend

Sprint made waves this week when it announced its new 20 GB family and $60 unlimited individual plans, but it also drew the attention of its former merger partner, T-Mobile. As with its previous call outs of AT&T and Verizon, T-Mobile and CEO John Legere took some shots at Sprint's new offerings and introduced a new deal of its own. Beginning next Friday, August 29th, when a T-Mobile customer brings a friend to T-Mobile from another carrier both the new customer and the referrer will get unlimited 4G LTE data for a year for no extra charge.

While the deal applies to customers coming over from any carrier—AT&T, Verizon or Sprint-- Legere went after Sprint in particular when he posted the news on thecompany's blog, showing no love was lost between the potential merger partners. "Sprint's customers have suffered much. They've endured the Framily. They've endured America's slowest nationwide LTE network," said Legere. "And now again, the (ironically named) carrier has forsaken its loyal customers, offering its latest, "best deals" to everyone but its own current customers. It's hard to watch."

To take advantage of the offer T-Mobile customers just need to report their referralwww.t-mobile.com/referral and provide their T-Mobile number along with the number of the person they've brought over. This needs to be done within 30 days of that person's activation with T-Mobile, after which the company will begin offering the unlimited LTE data service or a bill credit for both of you if it's the end of your monthly billing cycle. If you already have unlimited 4G LTE on T-Mobile the company will give you a $10 monthly credit for the next twelve months when you refer a friend.

While T-Mobile and Legere seemed to refrain from going after Sprint during the months of merger talks, with that deal finally off the table the company is showing its ready to take the gloves off.
